PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To wind in variable-speed winding by differentiating the area of effective grooves for winding in main winding and sub winding, in an induction motor. SOLUTION: In an induction motor, U-shaped and reversely U-shaped teeth 22b and 22c are coupled with each of the teeth 2 which are projected by a proper number of poles from the yoke 21 of a stator 20, and main winding 23 or sub winding 24 is directly wound on one tooth through a groove on outside peripheral side made of the tooth 22a and the teeth 22b and 22c, and sub winding is wound directly on two teeth through a groove made of the U-shaped and reversely U-shaped teeth. The length of the tooth 22a projected from the yoke 21 is shortened, and also the depth of the U-shaped and reversely U-shaped teeth 22b and 22c is changed, and the region (effective groove area) f of the groove on the inside peripheral side is made larger than the region (effective groove area) e of the groove on outside peripheral side, and variable-speed winding 12 is wound on this larger one.
