PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device in which an address period is shortened and which is capable of obtaining the display having large gradation and luminance and high-picture quality. SOLUTION: In this device, the address period is shortened by applying a scanning electrode voltage Vsd making it its objective to enable addressing discharge to be generated on a scanning electrode to the scanning electrode repetitively in the address period. Thus, the device can obtain the display having large gradation and luminance and high-picture quality by shortening the address period.
