PURPOSE: A cellular phone capable of playing a moving picture in a video mail and a method for playing the moving picture, are provided to reproduce a moving picture file included in the video mail which is received externally. CONSTITUTION: When the cellular phone receives the video mail via the Internet(200), an MSP(Mobile Station Processor) displays a message for informing that the video file has been received, on an LCD(202). The MSP checks whether a user requests the play of the video mail(204). If the user does not requests the play of the video mail, the MSP performs an operation corresponding to a key input from the user(206). If the user requests the play of the video mail, the MSP decodes moving picture video data in the received video mail which are compressed as the moving picture(208). The MSP applies the decoded video data to an LCD driver, and thereby makes the decoded video data displayed on the LCD(210).
