CONTROL SYSTEM OF DIRECT INJECTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct injection engine which promotes fuel economy by efficiently utilizing purged evaporative emission. SOLUTION: This system comprises a control valve 21 provided in a purge passage 19 connecting an intake air passage and a fuel tank 18 to change inflow of evaporation fuel gas into the intake air passage according to degree of opening and a control unit 12 which selects either stratified charge combustion or homogeneous mixing combustion according to driving condition and controls degree of opening of the control valve 21 according to the selected combustion type. If the control unit 12 judges that concentration of evaporation fuel gas in the purging passage 19 is higher than the predetermined value, it selects homogeneous mixing combustion even when the driving condition is such that stratified charge combustion should be executed.
