PURPOSE: Provided is the composition of cosmetic material containing extract of Areca catechu L. The composition eliminates the free radicals which is a cause of skin aging. CONSTITUTION: The extraction comprises the following steps: making the seed of Areca catechu L. to powder; extracting the powder after soaking it for 1-15 days with 1-15 volume of solvents and decompression-concentrating the extracts. The solvent is water, low carbon alcohols, a mixture of low carbon alcohols and water, acetone, ethylacetate, diethylether, benzene, chloroform and hexane. The extract is added in an amount of 0.001-10.00% of the dry weight of cosmetic material.
