PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve communication quality by securing high magnetic coupling positions suitable for individual cards and to properly cope with a communication error even in such a case. SOLUTION: This IC card reader is equipped with a card conveying mechanism which takes in an IC card 2 equipped with a coil 3 for contactless communications and carries the IC card 2. The IC card reader communicates data to the IC card 2 by a communication coil 5 of a card-reader side provided in the card reader, and is further equipped with a position adjusting means 6 which moves at least one of the IC card 2 equipped with the coil 3 for contactless communications and the communication coil 5 for card-reader side to perform positional adjustment, a driving means for positional adjustment which drives the positional adjusting means 6, and a positional adjustment control means which controls the positional adjustment driving means and positional adjusting means 6 and decides a position where communication quality is high according to the output signal from the card-reader side communication coil. |
