PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of CVT designing and establish precise controllability for the line pressure of a CVT. SOLUTION: This transmission includes a control system capable of controlling the pressure of a cylinder 11 of a piston/cylinder assembly (11 and 13) combined with a first pulley 1, wherein the control system is equipped with a pump 17 to generate a flow of hydraulic medium from a storage part 34 to a main hydraulic line 15 and a line pressure valve 18 to be operated at least with the control pressure PCP adjusted by a pressure adjuster 29 arranged as manipulated electronically so that the line pressure PLP in the line 15 is controlled, and further with a pressure adjuster 40 to constitute a pressure control means capable of influencing the line pressure PLP by applying another pressure PFP to a valve element 20 in the line pressure valve 18.
