PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating device of a vertical shaft engine capable of lowering the height of the engine while enhancing the lubricating performance by splashing, and durably supporting a crankshaft. SOLUTION: The crankshaft 6 is vertically journalled to upper and lower spindle-boss parts 5a, 5b of a crank case 2, and a driving gear 21 is provided on the underside of a crank arm 6a. The driving gear 21 transmitting rotates a splasher disc 24 and a valve system cam 28, and the splasher disc 24 splashes lubricating oil in an oil pan 20. The driving gear 21 is made up of a disc driving gear 21a for rotating the splasher disc 24 and a cam driving gear 21b for rotating the valve system cam shaft 28. The disc driving gear 21a is arranged on the upper side of the cam driving gear 21b, and is formed to be larger than the cam driving gear 21b in a diameter.
