PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a video display apparatus with a multiple signal source which changes over a current mode to a power-saving mode when a power-saving instruction is inputted from a computer and a signal source is selected by the computer, and which continues the current mode when a signal source is not selected by the computer but from another signal source. SOLUTION: A method for controlling a video display apparatus with a multiple signal source comprising a 1st step for judging whether a power saving instruction has been inputted from a computer, a 2nd step for judging a signal selection state when the power-saving instruction has been inputted as a result of the judgment at the 1st step, a 3rd step for changing over the current mode into the power-saving mode when the 2nd step judges that the signal source is selected by the computer, and a 4th step for continuing the current mode when the 2nd step judges that the signal source is not selected by the computer but by another signal source.
