PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key input device which can be miniaturized while maintaining operability. SOLUTION: The key input device is provided with a main key area 20 arranging at least twelve main keys 21-32 consisting of four rows and three columns, a cursor key 54 and a mode key 56. The cursor key 54 is formed like a rhombus and constituted of a cursor key provided with a key switch part for commanding the vertical and horizontal movement of a cursor at four corner parts. The mode key 56 is formed like a rhombus and constituted of a mode key provided with a key switch part for commanding the switching to respectively different input modes at the four corner parts.
