PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a molten metal sensor having a long life without using much production expense which may not be eroded by an aluminum alloy, in particular the one optimum for detecting a lower limit of a molten metal surface. SOLUTION: A molten metal sensor 1 comprises a conductive member 7 electrically connecting a conductive ceramic sensor 2 at a tip part with an electrode terminal 3 at a rear end part, and a ceramic tube 5 with a small opening 8 at a front. The conductive ceramic sensor 2 is built in the ceramic tube 5 being pressed by a spring member 9 through a packing 10, in such a manner that a part of the conductive ceramic sensor 2 is projected outside of the small opening 8.
