PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane pump occupying no space in the shaft direction, reducing the number of part items and having the simple constitution. SOLUTION: In this vane pump having a housing 23 having an operating space for pressurizing fluid, a rotor 24 for pushing away the fluid in the operating space along an inner peripheral surface by making rotary motion while slidingly contacting with the peripheral surface and both side surfaces for partitioning the operating space in the operating space and a vane 33 being slidingly held in the housing 23, having the tip slidingly contacting with an outer peripheral surface of the rotor 24 and dividing the operating space into at least an expansion chamber 35 and a compression chamber 34 together with the rotor 24, the vane 33 is provided with a sliding seal part 36 having the tip part slidingly contacting with the rotor 24 and a pressure receiving part 37 communicating with the compression chamber 34. The vane 33 is energized by abutting to the rotor 24 by a spring member 32. The spring member 32 is driven in the direction for separating the vane 33 from the rotor 24 by pressure of the compression chamber 34 acting on the pressure receiving part 37 when the pressure in the compression chamber becomes prescribed pressure or more, and is constituted so as to have prescribed energizing force for releasing fluid of the compression chamber 34 to the expansion chamber 35.
