The blade shape may be adjusted by pistons to adjust for varying wind strengths. The turbine type windmill comprises a base (1) with four perpendicular horizontal limbs, weighted at their ends (2). A support structure (3a, 3b) is connected to the center of the base, with the upper part mounted to turn about a vertical axis. A ring (8) for transmission of energy from the windmill is mounted between the two parts (3a, 3b). The mast is fixed to the upper base section (3b). Blades are attached to the mast, each being attached by a long edge to the mast and presenting a curved horizontal cross-section. Pistons mounted on the blades are provided to absorb some of the energy of the wind.
