PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment and its control method for switching automatically to a facsimile mode by preventing the equipment from being left as it is in a printer mode though processing in the printer mode is not performed. SOLUTION: When a prescribed signal is not inputted through an external centronics interface 23 though a counter 27 counts a prescribed time based on monitoring with a CPU 22 when the printer mode is set by a mode switching key 25, a printer input switch 24 is switched to the side of the CPU 22 for controlling facsimile automatically to set the facsimile mode.
