PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor easy to disassemble, while avoiding the fixation of the lower end pin of a fuel stick to an insertion hole due to the deposition of an oxide film during the operation of the reactor. SOLUTION: A lower tie plate is provided with a through-hole, in which the lower end pin of the fuel stick is inserted, formed in arrangement corresponding to the square grid array of the fuel stick. The lower end pin of the fuel stick has a cut portion ranging over the insertion area, corresponding to the sectionally circular shape of the through-hole and a coolant flow passage formed between the cut portion and the inner wall face of the through-hole in the state of insertion in the through-hole.
