PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic head slider which can improve the reliability over the entire part of a device by lessening the damage to be exerted to a disk surface when a levitation posture is disturbed in loading/unloading. SOLUTION: The magnetic head slider 20 has a shape that the slider is floated on the disk surface by receiving the air flow during rotation of a magnetic disk 12 on the opposite surface facing the disk surface. The magnetic head slider 20 is chamfered to a curve surface form in a direction the head slider parts from the disk surface at the corners of the opposite surface of rail patterns 21 forming the opposite surface. The chamfering may be executed simultaneously with the stage for forming the rail patterns 12. In such a case, the number of stages in producing the magnetic head slider 20 is drastically curtailed and productivity is improved.
