PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image forming device allowing space-saving, low-cost and light weight by using a transfer roll of a simple constitution which can correspond to sizes of various kinds of transfer material and to provide the image forming device which allows forming a transfer picture of high quality by keeping a nip width constant. SOLUTION: The transfer roll 34 consists of three transfer rolls 34a, 34b and 34c which are disposed in the axial direction of a photoreceptor drum 31 and is retained respectively to retaining brackets 36a, 36b and 36c via bearings not shown freely rotatably. Further, the respective transfer rolls 34a, 34b and 34c are made to be connectable and disconnectable with respect to the photoreceptor drum 31 by a connection and disconnection mechanism not shown. The size of recording part is selected on an operating part, not shown the respective transfer rolls 34a, 34b and 34c are pressed to the photoreceptor drum 31 individually or by combining the plural drums by the connection and disconnection mechanism and, thus, a transfer part corresponding to the size of recording paper is constituted. The transfer part corresponding to the size of recording paper of the lengthwise direction of A4 and the widthwise direction of A3 is shown by Fig. 4 (a) and the transfer part corresponding to the size of recording paper of the lengthwise direction of A2 and the widthwise direction of A1 is shown by Fig. 4 (c).
