PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining a brighter display even in the case of being used as a transmission type or as a reflection type. SOLUTION: In the transmission and reflection type liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal display panel, back light and semitransmission reflection plate, a material having the spectral characteristics shown in Fig.2 is used for the semitransmission reflection plate. That is, the material shows nearly 100% transmittance of light in the wavelength region near each of the spectral peak wavelength (345 nm, 545 nm and 610 nm) of blue, green and red shown as a solid line in the Fig.2, and shows nearly 0% transmittance for light in other wavelength region. The material shows nearly 0% reflectance for light in the wavelength region near each of the spectral peak wavelength of blue, green and red as shown as dotted line in Fig.2, and nearly 100% in other wavelength region. A three-wavelength tube back light is used for the back light. |
