PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color conversion method and a color conversion device, which flexibly change conversion characteristics and which do not require a large capacity memory by independently correcting six color tones and areas between the color tones and outputting them through a gradation characteristic conversion means. SOLUTION: Coefficients on comparison data associated with the respective color tones and comparison data associated with the areas between the color tones are changed on the input signals of three colors. They are outputted through the gradation characteristic conversion means. Thus, the six color tones of red, blue, green, yellow, cyan and magenta and the color tone noticed in the areas between the color tones are changed without affecting the other color tones. Then, a non-linear characteristic that an output device has is corrected and highly precise color conversion is conducted.
