摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce occurrence of torque shock when different combustion states are swtiched in an in-cylinder injection engine. SOLUTION: This control device for a direct injection engine 1 with four air cylinders has an injector 7 for directly injecting fuel into a combustion engine and selectively performs stratification combustion or uniform premixed combustion according to an operation state. The control device determines whether the combustion state is transferred between the stratification combustion and the uniform premixed combustion. When it determines that the combustion state is transferred, it performs a transfer control for sequentially switching the combustion state every air cylinder. The switch of the combustion state for all air cylinders is performed for a period longer than one cycle. For example, the combustion state for each air cylinder is switched at a switch interval (e.g. 3/4 cycle or 5/4 cycle) longer than an ignition interval (1/4 cycle) between air cylinders.
