PURPOSE: A communication connection method of MIPS(Multimedia IP System) gateway system is provided to define the communication protocol newly, thereby improving the speech quality between boards, and redefine the gateway protocol, minimizing the change of MIPS protocol. CONSTITUTION: A master board(1) manages the terminal information table and public switched telephone network channel table, takes charge of call signal relating to all slave boards(2A-2N) and performs a communication connection function between each terminal(4A),(4B) and slave boards(2A-2N). The slave boards(2A-2N) reports to the master board(1) by sensing invents generated from the public switched telephone network(3), performs a given communication connection function by receiving the control message related to the communication connection from the master board(1), and takes charge of voice transmission with each terminal(4A)(4B). The terminals(4A)(4B) corresponds to IP phones or PC phones.
