PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information medium capable of higher density recording. SOLUTION: The optical information medium 10 wherein optically readable information is recorded is provided with a liquid crystal layer 2 in which the alignment of a liquid crystal phase having a helical structure is fixed. The liquid crystal layer 2 has plural information carrying parts 3a-3c which carry information and have liquid crystal layers 2 having thicknesses different from one another. Light made incident on each of plural information carrying parts 3a-3c is selectively reflected in each information carrying part 3a-3c and the intensities of selectively reflected light in each part 3a-3c is different from one another depending on the thickness of the liquid crystal layers 2 in each part 3a-3c. Therefore, the intensities of transmitted light or intensities of reflected light are different in each part 3a-3c. |
