PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cordless telephone device having an automatic answering function capable of automatically preparing an automatic answering message corresponding to an assigned slave unit when a plurality of slave units are allocated to a plurality of telephone lines. SOLUTION: A master unit has a line interface part 2 for connecting to the plurality of telephone lines 1, a bell detection circuit 3 detecting an incoming bell signal through the part 2, a message storing part 5 which stores the automatic answering message and also has a line allocation storage table that makes the slave units correspond to the lines 1 and stores them and a controlling part 4 controlling the whole, and the controlling part 4 transmits an automatic answering message about a slave unit corresponding to the line used by a caller to the caller from the part 5 when the circuit 3 detects a bell signal from the line 1.
