PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color spaces which differ in a color picture from becoming the same in a monochrome picture (gray). SOLUTION: A dither discrimination part 1 decides a conversion dither matrix by considering information on lightness, saturation and luminance at every pixel on inputted R(red), G(green) and B(blue) information. A dither pattern threshold processed by a dither pattern by a dither conversion part 2 provided with an R-dither matrix part, a G-dither matrix part, a B-dither matrix part and a Gray-dither matrix part is sent to a monochrome printer 3. At the time of monochrome-printing the color picture, red, green and blue RGB picture information are converted into the binary dither pattern by using a dither matrix method and it is printed.
