PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment and its control method capable of facilitating confirmation of presence/absence of a desired incoming original and its obtaining work by sorting a paper eject tray for every incoming call. SOLUTION: When a designated tray is not at a first set position, the designated tray is replaced with another incoming call tray and when it is at the first set position, the incoming call original is ejected to the designated tray. Next, when another incoming call tray is not at a second set position, the designated tray to which the incoming original is ejected is released to move to the second position and when another incoming call tray is at the second set position, the release of the designated tray is prohibited. Next, recovery processing is prompted by the display of incoming call and generation of an alarm sound and when the recovery processing is not performed, the equipment is shifted to 'manual tray release mode'.
