PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mountable surface acoustic wave device which can be reduced in the size of the occupation area of the external shape almost to its internal surface acoustic surface element and has high reliability and mass-productivity. SOLUTION: An exciting electrode 2 which generates a surface acoustic wave and a wiring electrode 3 connected thereto are formed on a piezoelectric substrate 1 and then coated with an insulating protector 6, wherein a conductor 5 which penetrates the insulating protector 6 and has bent parts 5z and 5y is arranged and connected to both the wiring electrode 3 and an external electrode 7 formed on the surface of the insulating protector 6, thus constituting the surface acoustic wave device S1.
