PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform multi-valued recording onto a recording medium 9 composed of photochromic material. SOLUTION: A laser beam L from a laser beam source 21 is divided into plural light beams L1-L4 by a beam dividing means 22. Mechanical shutters 23a-23d are provided in the optical path of respective light beams L1-L4, and respective light beams L1-L4 are intercepted or transmitted by operating the mechanism shutters 23a-23d. Respective light beams L1-L4 are made incident on a recording probe 25 being a near-field light generating means by a condensing lens 24, and near-field light being recording light is generated from the lower end side of the recording probe 25. Light intensity when the near-field light reaches the recording surface side of the recording medium 9 is changed by ON/OFF control of respective mechanical shutters 23a-23d, and multi-valued recording is performed onto the recording medium 9. |
