PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector reducing optical connection loss by increasing fitting and fixing strength in the axial direction of a sleeve within an adapter housing and restraining the positional deviation of a ferrule inserted into the sleeve. SOLUTION: In the optical connector whose adapter housing 3 is composed of a first housing half 4 into which the large diameter part 1a of the sleeve 1 is fitted and a second housing half 5 into which the small diameter part 1b of the sleeve 1 is fitted, a projected part 1c is partially formed on the outer periphery of the large diameter part 1a of the sleeve 1, a recessed part 3c into which the projected part 1c is fitted is formed in the large fitting hole 4m of the first housing half 4, and the recessed part 3c is locked to the projected part 1c in the direction of the sleeve axis. Thus, the movement in the axial direction of the sleeve 1 is restricted, the positional deviation in the radial direction of the ferrule is restrained by the restriction and thereby, the optical connection loss is reduced.
