PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power plant and a method for distributing its load in which a running cost is reduced while keeping a regulated value of an exhaust gas. SOLUTION: The electric power plant is composed of boilers B1-Bn, a steam header SH for storing steam from the boilers B1-Bn, steam turbines T1-Tm which are rotated and driven by the steam from the header SH, generators G1-Gm which are connected to the turbines T1-Tm, respectively, a plant control computer for controlling the entire plant and the individual processes, and the like. Efficiency characteristics of the boilers B1-Bn by fuels, their cost characteristics by fuels and their exhaust gas generation characteristics by fuels, as well as power generation characteristics of the turbines T1-Tm and the generators G1-Gm, and treating cost characteristics of exhaust gas treating devices D1-Dn, are set in advance. On the basis of these characteristics, the fuel flow rate and the airflow rate of the boilers B1-Bn and the steam flow rate of the turbines T1-Tm are controlled, so that the generation rate of the exhaust gas falls within a range of a given limitation and the running cost is minimized.
