PURPOSE: A charging apparatus of a printer is provided to reduce a circuit size by simplifying a circuit structure for charging a photosensitive belt to a predetermined potential. CONSTITUTION: A charging apparatus of a printer includes the first electrode(21), and the second electrode separated from the first electrode and facing a photosensitive media. The first high voltage generator(25) generates a voltage set to the first electrode. The first varistor(51) is connected to one end of the second electrode. The second varistor(52) is connected to the other end of the first varistor, and the other end of the second varistor is connected to a ground terminal. The first switch(55) is connected in parallel to the second varistor, and is switched on/off. An engine controller(60) controls a voltage maintained at the second electrode by controlling a duty about a switch on/off of the first switch.
