Fume trap consists of a toroid collector of trapezoid or rectangular cross-section surrounding the furnace chamber (1) and consisting of a fixed upper section (3) and a lower mobile section (6) connected to the furnace chamber, with a seal (7) between the two. The seal is in the form of inserts attached to one section of the collector and held by suction or engaging with a groove in the other. The inserts are 0.3-1 m long and overlap for 5-10% of their length.
