PURPOSE: A belt tensioner reforms the connecting structure of an arm and a base to protect a tensioner pulley and the arm from slanting, thereby regulating the appropriate tension of a tensioner. CONSTITUTION: First, an arm(14), a fastening bolt(20) and a disk plate(18) are biased downward, when a belt is loosed or applies a given force for a tensioner pully(12). Then a spring(24) is biased downward and distorted. When the spring (24) returns, the elastic force is applied for the arm(14). Thus, the arm(14) and the tensioner pully(12) are applied with an upward force to reserve a constant tension of the belt. The vibration of the arm(14) and the tensioner pulley(12) are damping by a friction plate(30). Thus, a tensioner pully and an arm holds an appropriate position regardless of the wearing of a friction plate, thereby regulating an appropriate tension.
