New processes for preparation of multi-phase shaped detergent bodies are described. Independent claims are included for: (1) preparation of multi-phase shaped detergent bodies, comprising: (a) production of core shaped bodies which contain the active substance; (b) optional insertion of one or more of the core shaped bodies obtained in (a) into the mould of a tablet press; (c) introduction of at least one particulate premix into the tablet press mould; (d) addition of at least one core shaped body obtained in (a) into the tablet press mould; (e) optional single or multiple repetition of steps (c) and/or (d); and (f) compaction into shaped bodies. Steps (c) and (d) can be carried out in reverse order. In at least one of steps (b), (c), (d) or (f), the upper and/or lower plunger of the tablet press has a non-planar compacting surface; (2) preparation of multi-phase shaped detergent bodies, comprising: (a) production of core shaped bodies which contain the active substance; (b) optional insertion of one or more of the core shaped bodies obtained in (a) into the mould of a tablet press; (c) introduction of at least one particulate premix into the tablet press mould; (d) addition of at least one core shaped body obtained in (a) into the tablet press mould; (e) optional single or multiple repetition of steps (c) and/or (d); (f) compaction into shaped bodies which have at least one cavity; (g) insertion of one or more of the core shaped bodies obtained in (a) into the cavity of the tablet press; and (h) pressing of the core shaped body or bodies into the cavities.
