PURPOSE: A device and a method for detecting a vehicle information is provided to improve the operation stability of tire sensing part by measuring a width of wheel, the number of wheel axis, and a position of wheel, and using a scaffold. CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting a vehicle information includes a vehicle sensing part(200), a wheel width sensing part(210), a tread measuring part(220), a balance contacting part(230), and a vehicle axis detecting part(240). The vehicle sensing part(200) senses the front part and the rear part of a moving vehicle. The wheel width sensing part(210) senses the width and the position of each wheel. The tread measuring part(220) measures the tread of the vehicle according to the width and the position of each wheel. The balance contacting part(230) builds up contact points according to press of each wheel, and outputs signals corresponding to the contact points. The vehicle axis detecting part(240) detects the number of wheel axis on the basis of the number of wheel.
