OPTICAL DISC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING TRACK HOLD THEREOF

An optical disc device capable of carrying out tracking stably by preventing runaway during tracking even if the optical disc has a large eccentricity, and a track hold control method therefor are disclosed. The offset of a lens is monitored during track hold and kicking is effected at a timing at which the offset is the smallest when the lens shifts beyond the track hold position thus minimizing offset at the time of tracking. Since the lens does not shift when transition to tracking occurs, the track hold processing is executed stably.
