PURPOSE: A method for measuring an ignition period is provided to reduce the load of an engine controlling unit and to maintain the stable operation of the engine by calculating the ignition period with only two signals instead of every pulse signal. CONSTITUTION: In a method for measuring an ignition period, a Crank shaft Position Sensor(CPS) converts AC voltage generated by the rotation of a disk mounted to the crank shaft into a pulse signal. An engine controlling unit receives the pulse signal and outputs ignition timing to an ignition device. The engine controlling unit calculates ignition period with only 25th and 26th pulse in the output pulse of the CPS and determines ignition timing according to the detected period.
