<p>Petrol with an octane number of at least 95 is produced by (a) dividing a hydrocarbon fraction with a final b.p. below 220 degrees C at 1 atmosphere into a first part and a second part, (b) preparing a C5-6 hydrocracked petrol from the first part, (c) preparing a C5-6 reformate from the second part, and (d) forming a mixture from the C5-6 hydrocracked petrol and the C5-6 reformate. The first part comprises 10-35% and a second part 90-65% of the oil. The hydrocracking catalyst pref. contains 2-10% wt. Ni, 1-5% wt. W and 1-5% wt. F, deposited on a carrier consisting of 60-80% wt. silica and 40-20% wt. alumina, or contains 0.1-5% wt. Pt or Pd, and 1-35% wt. W,Mo,Co or Ni deposited on a zeolite carrier. The reforming catalyst pref. contains 0.1-1.0% wt. Pt, and chlorine and/or fluorine deposited on an alumina carrier contg. not more than 5% wt. silica.</p> |
