The front structure has a drive unit (110) mounted between two side longitudinal supports (85, 85') which are designed so that in the event of front impact at least a rear fixing point (115) of the drive unit on the support moves down whilst entraining the drive unit. In the event of a severe front impact a two-stage deformation of the structure takes place so that initially a crumple zone (90) in front of the drive unit deforms and then the drive unit is moved down through further deformation as the supports move.
