PURPOSE: An indicating method for engine torque by a can communication is provided to properly drive a vehicle by informing a driver of the engine torque according to the traveling state of the vehicle, using a can communication. CONSTITUTION: In a system exchanging information between an engine control unit and a gauge through a can communication line, the engine control unit outputs engine torque according to the traveling state of a vehicle and transmits the engine torque to the gauge through the can communication line. Then, the gauge indicates the engine torque. The engine control unit compares battery voltage with a predetermined voltage and compares an engine RPM(revolution per minute) with a predetermined engine RPM. When the battery voltage is more than the predetermined voltage and the engine RPM is more than the predetermined engine RPM, the engine control unit outputs the engine torque. Further, the system decides if data are transmitted through the can communication line. If not, the system stores a trouble code and finishes all processes.
