PURPOSE: An air conditioner having dual evaporator structure is provided to prevent a rear evaporator from freezing by oversupply of refrigerant by distributing the different amount of refrigerant to the rear evaporator through a rear evaporator path smaller than a front evaporator path. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner has a condenser(2), a compressor(1), a single receiver drier(3) and a sub condenser(4). A refrigerant tube is formed to supply refrigerant to both front and rear evaporators(5,6) by a branch pipe(7) of the receiver drier. A three-way valve(8) is mounted at the branch pipe of a refrigerant tube. An inlet of the three-way valve has the almost same diameter as a connecting part of the front evaporator. A connecting part of the rear evaporator has a smaller diameter than one of the front connecting part. Thereby, the different amount of refrigerant is supplied to the front and the rear evaporator. The air conditioner prevents the rear evaporator from freezing when the rear evaporator is run normally. The rear evaporator is run normally for the excess amount of refrigerant is isolated by expansion valves of each evaporator. |
