POLARIZING PLATE

A polarizing plate which is, of course, inhibited from decreasing in the degree of polarization even in a high-humidity high-temperature atmosphere and is substantially free from a hue change and light leakage. The polarizing plate comprises a polarizing film based on polyvinyl alcohol and a protective film consisting mainly of a cycloolefin resin formed on at least one side of the film through a coating layer formed from an anchoring agent and an adhesive layer, wherein the protective film has an optical in-plane phase difference change of 5 nm or less through 24-hr standing at 80 DEG C and had a wetting tension of 500 mu N/cm or higher (23 DEG C) on the side to be in contact with the adhesive layer, the anchoring agent comprises a polyester polyol and a polyisocyanate, and the adhesive layer comprises polyvinyl alcohol.
