<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe joint of an outer-periphery-side-face sealing type for assuring sealing performance with a packing adhered to the outer peripheral face of a pipe to be inserted, having a reduced cost without using a complicated structure with a lever and an eccentric cam, offering pipe connecting work with simple one-hand operation, and maintaining consistent sealing performance without the influence of a high/low fluid pressure. SOLUTION: A movable cylinder 20 is moved back via a sliding member 40 of a transmission mechanism by the insertion of the pipe 4. A packing thrust stepped portion 24 of the movable cylinder 20 thrusts the packing 30 in a space to the rear end face 13 of an inner cylinder 10 and expands the packing 30 to the inside of ring shape for elastic deformation, giving strong adhesion to the outer peripheral face of the pipe 4 and maintaining required sealing performance with bearing. At the same time, the movable cylinder 20 is put in a locked condition by a first locking ball 5, a second locking ball 12 is pushed against the outer peripheral face of the pipe 4 into a locked condition, and the possibility of vibrating the pipe 4 is eliminated by a third locking ball 26 for stabilization. These procedures are carried out with simple operation.</p> |
