PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for offering character picture information service in a key phone system are provided to supply various services to a user of the system, by applying the information externally serviced to an LCD included in the system. CONSTITUTION: An ISDN trunk interface part(51) receives character picture data from a transmission unit(10) connected to a PSTN(30), and then outputs it to an information process part(53). A LAN interface part(52) converts data received via the Internet(40) to an internal instruction. The LAN interface part(52) receives the character picture data applied from the transmission unit(10), and then outputs it to the information process part(53). The information process part(53) collects the character, picture information applied from the interface parts(51,52), and converts the collected data to the information that can be processed in itself. A central control part(54) prepares a character picture display instruction on a basis of the information from the LAN interface part(53). A subscriber process part(55) receives the instruction from the central control part(54), and controls the display of the character picture information based on a key phone(KP).
