<p>Respective welt seam knitted stitch rows are formed, on the knitting end side of a tubular knitted fabric consisting of a first and second knitted fabrics, using as starting points knitted stitches at the side ends of welt-seamed areas of the first and second knitted fabrics and at least three knitted stitches out of knitted stitches adjacent to knitted stitches at the above side ends of at least one of the first and second knitted fabrics, and, while the above respective welt seam knitted stitch rows are being formed, welt seam knitted stitches, formed so that the respective welt seam knitted stitch rows extend in a zigzag manner from the first knitted fabric to the second knitted fabric in welt-seamed areas and from the second knitted fabric to the first knitted fabric to allow respective welt seam knitted stitch rows to cross one another, are overlapped on the knitted stitches of the final knitted stitch row of a facing knitted fabric, whereby welt seams are formed free from gaps between joined knitted fabrics and with a minimum stretching at joined portions.</p> |
