<p>A food intake restriction apparatus comprises a restriction device (56) implantable in an obese patient, for engaging the stomach or esophagus to form an upper pouch of the stomach and a restricted stoma opening in the stomach or esophagus. The restriction device is operable by an implantable operation device (60) to change the size of the stoma opening. A control device (62 and 64) is provided for controlling a source of energy, which may or may not be implanted, from outside the patient's body, to release energy for use in connection with the operation of the restriction device, i.e. to power the operation device.</p> |
