The machine has a die unit (17) with aperture (18a) to hold a rivet element. The unit is fastened to an arm (15), which is connected to a base unit (14) moving along a linear guide (10). The positioner has a positioning device to limit the movement of the base unit by setting at least on end point of the movement path, so that in an end position, the rivet holding aperture associated with this end position is positioned under the riveting die (N). The linear guide consists of a rail (12) with a sliding carriage (13) for the base unit.
