摘要 PURPOSE: A traffic controller of an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Node) switching center, and a method for improving a network throughput using a packet discarding algorithm having two threshold values, are provided to improve a cell loss due to a buffer overflow, by sending a reverse pressure signal or discarding partial packet according to a cell occupation rate and the threshold values. CONSTITUTION: A cell classification part(10) classifies an input cell. A cell count part(40) counts the number of input cells, monitors the last cell of a packet, and counts the number of cells which are provided from buffers(20,30). A control part(50) executes a partial packet discarding control algorithm, and controls transmission of data, on a basis of the count value output from the cell count part(40) and the number of cells which are remaining in the buffers(20,30). The buffers(20,30) stores the data according to a service level.
