The present invention provides a filter apparatus and a method for filtering a fluid whereby the fluid is filtered and mixed in a mixing chamber present within the filter apparatus. The filter apparatus of the invention is particularly useful in increasing the screen life in polymer filtration applications and reducing the number and size of polymeric gels, especially in a polypropylene impact copolymer composition blend by filtering and mixing the blend through the filter apparatus during extrusion of the blend.
