<p>A gland packing, wherein reinforcing fibers sticking out from the ends in the width direction of adjacent knitting yarns are overlapped each other, and the overlapped portions of reinforcing fibers are present in all the areas between adjacent knitting-yarn expanded graphite tapes to thereby minimize the formation of leakage flow passages. The gland packing (4), wherein the width-direction ends (1a, 1b) of knitting yarns (3A-3H) constituting the gland packing are allowed to face inward in the width direction, and reinforcing fibers (2A-2H) sticking out from the ends (1a, 1b) are confined to the inner sides of the knitting yarns (3A-3H).</p> |
