PURPOSE: A method for setting a path according to preliminary check of communication delay is provided to actively manage a propagation delay of the path is set, by estimating the propagation delay, and then determining whether the estimated propagation delay is within a range required for service. CONSTITUTION: Candidate paths from an Ingress node to an Egress node is obtained(S101). One of the candidate paths is selected, and delay values by all buffers in the selected candidate path are added to each other, and thereby an estimated transmission delay is calculated(S102). It is checked whether the estimated transmission delay satisfies the maximum range(S103). If the estimated transmission delay does not satisfy the required range, it is determined whether there exists a path for which the estimated transmission delay is not calculated(S104). If the estimated transmission delay is calculated for all paths, it is informed that there is not a path which guarantees a minimum transmission delay(S106). If the estimated transmission delay satisfies the required range, the corresponding candidate path is selected as a real data transfer path(S105).
